Key opportunities

Enhanced Threat Intelligence

Challenge

Complex legacy estates, fragmented cyber tooling and constrained specialist capacity limit Defence’s ability to manage cyber risk, assure critical functions and maintain enterprise-wide resilience at pace.

Solution

SCC provides Secure SOC and SOC-as-a-Service, integrating cyber monitoring, analytics and legacy modernisation to support secure by design delivery, enterprise visibility and assured risk management across Defence.

Outcome

Defence Digital gains improved situational awareness, faster threat detection and response, and assured protection of critical services, strengthening cyber resilience, governance and confidence in the digital backbone.

Supply Chain Resilience

Challenge

UK defence supply chains are complex and fast-moving. One-off risk assessments and annual audits cannot keep pace with evolving cyber threats, leaving gaps in visibility, assurance and control across suppliers and subcontractors, with growing operational, IP and reputational impact.

Solution

SCC’s Active Cyber Defence service centre delivers continuous, high-assurance oversight for UK defence supply chains. From a secure UK facility, it combines law-enforcement-grade threat intelligence, Microsoft 365 assurance, attack surface management and real-time risk indicators.

Outcome

Organisations gain near real-time visibility of supplier cyber risk, earlier warning of attacks and stronger assurance across mission-critical services. The result is improved resilience, reduced disruption and greater confidence in the security of the defence supply chain.

Enterprise Licence Spend

Challenge

Disjointed licence procurement across Defence leads to duplicated spend, inconsistent entitlement visibility and fragmented vendor management, making it difficult to optimise budgets or ensure compliance across complex, multi-domain estates.

Solution

SCC centralises licence management through close relationships with enterprise software vendors and secure tooling and processes, consolidating licence spend and providing clear entitlement reporting. The result is less duplication, better transparency and compliant, cost-efficient software utilisation across the estate.

Outcome

Full visibility of licence estates, reduced waste, improved forecasting and better budget control. Standardised processes strengthen governance, enhance audit readiness and deliver measurable savings across the software lifecycle.

Digital Workplace Solutions

Challenge

Defence’s dispersed, legacy workplace systems limit the SDR goal of a fully integrated, digitally capable force. Inconsistent user experience, ageing devices and siloed collaboration tools hinder operational tempo and cross-domain coordination.

Solution

SCC delivers a secure, modern Digital Workplace built for Defence: standardised device estates, protected collaboration platforms and assured support, all aligned to MOD controls. The result is a resilient, interoperable environment that supports mission readiness.

Outcome

MOD gains a unified, secure workplace: improved mobility, faster decision cycles, enhanced collaboration and reduced technical debt. Standardised, Defence-ready platforms support SDR ambitions for integrated, agile and digitally capable operations.

Networking and Storage

Challenge

MOD networks and storage environments are often fragmented, ageing and difficult to standardise. Data silos form, information flow slows and resilience degrades, limiting the ability to support modern Defence operations and mission-critical workloads.

Solution

SCC modernises MOD networking and storage through secure, high-assurance architectures, unified connectivity, scalable data platforms and cloud-ready designs. Accredited teams deliver resilient, interoperable solutions aligned to Defence standards and operational needs.

Outcome

MOD benefits from a reliable, integrated digital backbone: improved resilience, faster and more secure access to data, reduced technical debt and enhanced interoperability across domains, strengthening operational effectiveness and mission readiness.

Skills Gap Resolution

Challenge

Shortage of security-cleared technical specialists and complex technology requirements strain internal resources and limit strategic capability development.

Solution

SCC’s Professional Services team includes security-cleared specialists with deep expertise across government IT estates, providing strategic consultancy, implementation support and ongoing technical guidance tailored to defence requirements. Our Flex resourcing team supplies additional capacity to fill personnel shortages when programmes demand it.

Outcome

MOD gains reliable access to security-cleared expertise, reduced delivery risk and faster progress on complex programmes. Strengthened capability, sustained knowledge transfer and flexible resourcing improve operational readiness and support continuous technical development.

Challenge

Complex legacy estates, fragmented cyber tooling and constrained specialist capacity limit Defence’s ability to manage cyber risk, assure critical functions and maintain enterprise-wide resilience at pace.

Solution

SCC provides Secure SOC and SOC-as-a-Service, integrating cyber monitoring, analytics and legacy modernisation to support secure by design delivery, enterprise visibility and assured risk management across Defence.
